Water Pumping Systems

Water pumping needs can often be required where there is no source of energy nearby to power a pump. Solar pumping systems can be categorised into 2 main groups.

  • Pure solar
  • Stand alone

Pure solar pumping is when a pump is powered directly from a solar array with or without a controller depending on the pump. Batteries are not used and the pumps performance is reduced during poor weather.

Stand alone pumping is when a pump is powered from a battery bank either directly or through a controller and the battery bank is recharged daily from the solar array. This can allow the pump to operate up to 24 hours a day or just to extend the run time more then the daylight hours.

Alternate sources for supplementary power can also be connected in to increase performance on most systems. Energy from Generators, Wind and Hydro plants are some examples
